Many years ago, a friend shared this quote with me:
Commit to CANI – Constant and never-ending improvement.
And I really try to live by that philosophy. Every day I set aside time to read, learn, and be quiet. When I am in the car I often listen to audio programs, and even while running I will listen to podcasts or audio library books (if I don’t have a running partner to chat with).
But last fall I stepped that up a notch. I participated in a program called The Master Key Experience. This was completely different – there’s nothing like it! Based on teachings from over 100 years ago, this is a unique combination of reading, sensory activities, observation assignments, weekly webinars, assigned guides, and lots of homework! Lots and lots of homework! Writing a weekly blog, which I was very diligent about, but had taken a break from – until now – was a great creative outlet for me. I got to write about what I learned, how it was coming together, or just about how I felt. You can read my full blog at https://arlenemke.wordpress.com/
The experience unfolded over 6 months. The basis of the course is to help us all become self-directed thinkers. What a great goal, right? Part Law of Attraction, but so much more. Here’s a quote from Charles Haanel:
Every thought brings into action certain physical tissue, parts of the brain, nerve, or muscle. This produces an actual physical change in the construction of the tissue. Therefore it is only necessary to have a certain number of thoughts on a given subject in order to bring about a complete change in the physical organization of a man.Charles Haanel, The Master Key
So. through the power of thought, we can create our own reality. Isn’t that great?
Then, part way through the course, I found out there would be an opportunity to attend a post-course retreat on the island of Kauai (were you wondering what Hawaii had to do with CANI?) Well, that sounded great to me, I love to travel, and I love warm vacations and tropical drinks. My husband was supportive of this as he got to come along. Actually we put him to work as a driver, as we formed groups and toured the island together. From Hanalei to the Na Pali Coast, Waimea Canyon and plenty of stops in between. We met as a group in the mornings and had some intensive learning, then explored the island most afternoons. What a fantastic experience! The content of the training portion built on all we had learned through the winter; and meeting other students, teachers, guides and past students was so amazing. We formed Master Mind Alliances, and are even now supporting each other in our goals. And we got MORE homework, too. Which is great, actually, as it gives me a direction to continue on this path of enlightenment. Remember the constant and never-ending part?
One more quote from Haanel to wrap it up. But if you would like to learn more about this, ask me. One more amazing thing about this experience: it is only available through a scholarship. Your entry has been paid for by the previous class – how great is that?
We are at the dawn of a new day, the possibilities are so wonderful, so fascinating, so limitless as to be almost bewildering. Any man with a knowledge of the possibilities contained in the Master Key has an inconceivable advantage over the multitude.Charles Haanel, The Master Key
